Well here it is, SuperBowl Sunday.
I know the experts and most everybody else says Pittsburgh will win, but I like Seatle.
I also think the big winners will be the add companies. Lets face it, SuperBowl Sunday is as much about television advertisement as it is about football now-a-days.
Who can remember who won the SuperBowl the last 3 years? Who cares?
But I will bet we all remember the adds. The Budweiser Clydesdales, the Bud Frogs, Lenny and Louie the Lizards, they are all part of our Trivial Pursuit memory banks now.
Last night we had the 40 greatest SuperBowl comercials of all time on CBS and those who watched were treated to advertisement genious for an hour.
I know the Mean Joe Green Coke comercial of 1980 won the #1 spot, but how many people remember this comercial from even before 1980?
I even remember a parody of the comercial where Joe, instead of saying "thanks " lets out one long loud Belch.
Myself, I liked the story of the 2 dalmation puppies. One gets picked by the fire department as their mascot, and gives his brother a rasberry. Years later we see these same two dalmations passing each other in two different open air vehicles. The one on the Firetruck is upset as he sees his brother,with tounge sticking out, on the Budweiser Clydesdale Beer Wagon.
No matter who wins the football game, we all gather round with our co-workers for the next few days to not just talk football, but advertisements as well.
Well my friends, I hope your football pool numbers come up big, I have 4 sets myself, and I hope you all enjoy the game, but I also hope you enjoy the adds as well.
