Hey Yall,
Yesterday, 3/25/2007, Nascar brought out what they call the Car Of Tomorrow.
This car is designed by Nascar to be safer, more economical for the teams, and
supposedly more equal among the manufacturers.
The drivers have had mixed feelings about this car. In last Fridays sports section of the Kalamazoo Gazzete, Tony Stewart was quoted as saying that the car was a "bucket of junk
that drives like an old green Oldsmobile station wagon with wood paneling on the side".
This brings me to the subject of todays post.
First of all, Tony's description sounds like a person who has been there. Was this A...his
first vehicle or B...the family vehicle.
When I first read his comments, I was reminded of a color faded rusty 1970's Post
Office Pinto. Some of the regular visitors of the Empty Room have just fallen out of their chairs laughing.
This vehicle was a good source of basic transportation, that got us from point a to point b, but
it impossible to look cool in one of theese vehicles.
This brought to mind several vehicles, not mine, but my older sister and my brothers will remember the term "Connie Car". My older brother and sister will now be picking themselves up off the floor, and my younger brother is laughing from Heaven right now.
This vehicle was good for maybe 2 starts, after that it was a crapshoot. If the vehicle did start
it was a blue cloud of smoke going down the road.
So now we come to the group participation of the Empty Room.
What I would like from you gentle reader, is to send in your information about your
"Loser Mobile", "Connie Car", or other basic transportation that you have owned.
Contact your friends and send them here, yes I know its a shameless plug for the
Empty Room, but I can do that.
My assignment is probably not going to work, but I will be writing an E-Mail to
Tony Stewart at his radio show, and see if he will talk to some of his driving buddies and get them to join in the spirit of this post, with stories of their "Loser Mobiles".
I doubt I will hear back from Tony personaly, but even if he used the idea for his show, it would be cool.

Hey yall...Look who's back.
That's right...pigs fly, there is an ice storm in hell, and I am blogging again.
The biggest news to hit the empty room in dog years happened on March 9th of this year.
We received in the mail last week a paper stating that as of that date,I Dan Dailey am
the proud father of a 19 year old little girl. SMOKE EM IF YA GOT EM.
Brittany Devon Raynne Dailey is doing fine in Ann Arbor, and we hope to get over there soon.
In other news...Mary slipped on some ice last month and broke her leg.
She has some screws and a plate just above her ankle now, but this by no means she has a bionic leg and can kick my ass harder.
She is getting around very well, very seldom using the walker or wheeled office chair upstairs,
and has mastered the stairs at home very well.
We have been using the Aztec for transportation exclusively, but will be trying to get her into the intrepid tomorrow.
She goes back to the Dr. on Wed. and we will see where everything is, but she has done remarkably well in trying to get back to where she is on her own feet withot a brace again.
I am no longer working at International Paper.
As of Feb. 1 of this year they are Evergreen Packaging.
We still don't have a union contract, but are hoping both sides will get back to the bargaining table very soon. Work continues to be fairly steady, and we are hiring new people. I think they are planning on some expansion in the near future.
Thats about all the poop there is in the empty room, allthough everybody says I am still full of it.

IT'S A GIRL

Last night, I became the father of a 19 year old daughter by the name of
Brittany Devon Raynne Dailey
The adoption papers have been filed, and the fees paid, so now all we have to do is go through the formal hearing.
Her biological father can not contest the adoption since she is not a minor, so prety much the hearing is a formality.
We should have the hearing either next month or in January, but we are very happy with the idea.
I will have more later on the court building expierience, but just wanted to let yall know what was up.

Sirius Radio

Hey yall, we had a great thanksgiving with Becas parents and did some good Christmas Shopping.
One of the things "DADDY" got was a Sirius Satalite Radio for the Aztec.
The family likes to listen to the Blue Collar Comedy channel, while I like the Outlaw Country channel.
I am looking forward to car trips now, and coming soon is the NASCAR channel....thats right...
all NASCAR...All the time.
I am realy enjoying it, and look forward to a lot of good music, comedy, and Nascar.

Hey Yall,
Just letting you know I have not fallen into the Abyss.
The last couple of weeks at work have been prety bussy.
Last week in particular was rough because I with the exception of Friday, I was working 12 hour shifts all week, even yesterday.
This will make for a great paycheck next week, which is good because we will be going to Great Lakes Crossing in Aubern Hills on Fri.
Thats right...Christmas Shopping is already here.
Today I will watch the final Nascar race of the season,and my hopes are for Jimmie Johnson to win the race...not only would he win the championship, but I would win $100 in the Nascar pool.
Friday I only had to work 8 hours, so after work Brittany and I went to Wal Mart looking at Christmas stuff, pushing all of the buttons on the animated and noisy stuff, and generaly having a good time together. I also bought the 5th and final season of Quantum Leap, so now I have the whole set.
I am hoping that within 2 weeks I will be able to add 2 more people into the Dailey family.
I should be able to complete the adoption of Brittany, and she and Becca plan to use the Dailey name.
I am very excited about the adoption, as is the rest of the family, and very happy that the girls want to be Daileys.
Well folks, that is about all that is going on right now, so I will keep you posted on the happenings.
Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving, and may you save a little time to relax and think of at least 5 things that you can truly say you are thankfull for.

WHAT IN THE WORLD HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 MONTHS !!!!!
I am terrible about keeping people updated, so here goes.
When last heard from, I had just been to a family reunion, and spent a great weekend at the lake.
During the month of August, the big event was the final weekend of the Silver Leaf Renaissance Fair.
Mary and I had never been to a ren - fair, so we were looking forward to the expierience.
This was a pirate themed weekend, and from the moment we stepped onto the grounds, we were impressed with all of the costumes, the people that were part of the different acts that were going on throughout the day, the vendors and the whole atmosphere. We will definately be going back next year.
The month of Sept. had a lot of things happening.

On the Sunday before Labor Day, My younger
sister Melissa, and her husband Steffan, were in town for Melisa's 20th high school reunion.
We spent the day in South Haven, and had a great time checking out the art fair and Lake Michigan.
Steffan is an airline pilot for Southwest, and said he has flown over Lake Michigan dozens of times, but never had seen it up close.
The two boats on the water was just to good to pass up.

Hello Yall,
When it comes to blogging, I am the worst person at keeping up to date.
Anyway, last weekend was prety eventfull and interesting.
On Sat. Mary and I went to Gravel Lake outside of Lawton.
We have a great uncle on my dads side of the family who has a trailer out there.
Anyway, we were all set for a night of camping....I had loaded up the car with the tent,
air mattress, portable grill, cooler, everything we would need.
When we got to the place, the family had gone into town to pick up a few things, and we were not sure at first which place was uncle Larys. Fortunately, a neighbor had seen the strangers and informed us which trailer was Larys and said they may have gone out on a boat ride.
We walked down to the water and saw a few boats out but not Lary.
Another friend of the family saw us kind of trying to find somebody and helped us out by calling Lary on the cell phone.
Lary told us to make ourselves at home so we went back to the trailer and had a seat in the sunporch rec room of the place.
As soon as we entered we saw all kinds of fish mounted on the walls, ball caps hanging where the fish weren't and a pair of antlers hanging up holding about another 3 or 4 hats.
The first thing I said upon entering was "Yup It's A Daily House".
When Lary returned, my dad and his girlfriend Joan were with him, and we were getting ready to unload the Aztec.
"You guys don't need that stuff" my dad said...we were going to be sleeping on the pull out bed in the sun room, Dad and Joanie would be on the pull out bed in the living room, and of course Lary and his wife Lynne were in their bedroom.
Anyway, Dad said, " I hope you guys have extra room in your car"...they had two boxes of old yarn and a trash bucket full of knitting needles from Joans place up in Afton...about a half hour from THE BRIDGE.
Well, I was not so sure we had the room, but Mary took care of everything and somehow got it all in the car.
After a lite snack, Lary Dad and Joan had decided that a trip to the St. Julian Winery in Paw Paw was in order.
About this time Lynne came home from work, so we all piled into Larys truck and off we went.
Now getting into the truck was an adventure in itself, because it is a BIG Ford F-350.
It sets up pretty high, and has a step bumper, but we found that we still needed the milk crate in back to get in and out.
Anyway, this was actualy a very cool trip...I have lived in this area all my life and had never been to any of the wineries in Paw Paw.
We took the tour of the plant, and tasted a couple of wines each...and Mary and I came home with a bottle of Blue Heron, the #1 selling Michigan wine, and a bottle of Chery Spumante.
When we got back to the lake, the guitars were taken out and we headed down to Larys pontoon out at the dock.
Another of Larys friends, Dave, joined us and we had a very neat little jam session out on the pontoon.
Dave is a little bit of a blusey player, Dad is the old country player, and I mix in a little bit of both with some more contemporary country...all of which blended nicely.
We played for about an hour or so, and then went up for supper.
After supper, it was back down to the water for a tour of the lake...very nice and quiet...and then more music.
The next day, we were up around 8 to deep fry a turkey and a chicken to take to the 54th Dailey Reunion.
This is allways a great time, allthough sadly, I don't know even half of the people there.
Anyway, each time we go is allways a great time with way to much food, and each timwe we come away with a little family history.
This was no exception. My Dads Grandparents were Ralph and Dora Dailey.
These two are very important to the family history, because they had 16 children.
No that is not a typo.
Of the 16 there are still a few living today, one of which, Aunt Iona, was celebrating her 79th birthday.
She is not the oldest, Susie, is 91 and the oldest surviving sibling.
One of my great uncles had asked Dora how she and Ralph had gotten 16 kids.
Her reply was that they lived near the railroad tracks, and every morning a train went by at about 4:30 and woke them up. She said it was to early to get up and to late to go back to sleep.
Anyway Iona had brought in a picture of Ralph and Dora taken around 1910.
Ralph passed away in 1940, but Dora was with us until 1981.
They lived in Pullman, Mi. which is in Allegan county.
During WWII, 6 of the brothers served in different branches of the Armed Forces, and there was a large plaque at the VFW post in Pullman to honor all the men who served from Allegan County and all of the names are on there.
There is a newspaper clipping from the Pullman newspaper honoring Dora and her 6 sons, and this is hanging in the VFW in Pullman.
There is also a family story that has Dora being thrown out of the VFW for starting a bar fight.
Now I don't know about you, but when I think of Grandmothers, I think of Apple Pie, Cookies and things like that. BAR FIGHT is not real high on the list of things I think of.
Well, that is a bit of where I come from, I have a family tree at home that traces us back to a Jeremiah Daily who died in 1777 here in the states.

This is my nephew Jordan "Lionheart" Dailey.
He is thirteen and his Hockey Team took the bronze medal for the Providence of Qubec.
Acording to my brother Ben, he is the smallest man on the team at 4' 7" and 70 lbs., but
he is also the man with the most heart and determination on the team.
I hope to have some more pics of Jordan with the rest of his team soon, and I will post them when I get them.
Jordan's other activities are Basketball, Soccer, and Hip - Hop Dancing. I don't think I
will see him doing any Buck and Wing on the dancefloor anytime soon, but Ben says his
Hip - Hop team is prety good too.

Hey Yall,
Sory I haven't updated in a while...been kind of busy and away from computer quite a bit.
I was in Apollo Beach, Fl. at the beginning of March for 2 weeks and the weather was great.
We were watching the weather reports for Michigan and laughing our asses of quite a bit.
Anyway, my father and his girlfriend hav a place in a retirement mobil home comunity, and we were having a great time with them.
These old folks are not sitting and watching their lives slip by either...they have stuff going on all of the time.
While we were down there, they had bowling, horse shoe, shuffle board, and bingo going on every week, but they also have a lot of trips to the casinos, cruises, a trip to Branson, MO.,
quilting, potery, and a very nice swimming pool.
One of the activities that I enjoyed the most was Happy Hour.
There were a few couples who would meet every day at about 4:00 to relax with a cold drink, gossip, and just have a good time.
Sometimes there would be munchies and sometimes there would be quite a crowd.
While we were down there, a couple of times happy hour didn't end until after 10:30.
My dad and I had the guitars out and just had a great time until we had to break up happy hour to get things quieted down for the night.
The last night Mary and I were there, we had a Bean Soup Super and everybody had brought in all kinds of great food.
We had about 60 people there, and I have a few pics from there, but we had a great time
and met a lot of neat people.

Time to blog again.
Yesterday, I along with millions of other fans watched what is known as "The Great American Race".
Yes folks, the Daytona 500 has started the Nascar season up again, and it was a very good race.
I am a fan of Jimmy Johnson, who won btw, but this alone was not what made the race.
We saw allmost half of the drivers in this race driving different cars for different teams than when last season ended.
This was kind of cool, because the drivers are trying to prove themselves all over again, and it was interesting when they would come up on old team mates or their former cars.
Case in point: Kurt Bush.
Last year Kurt Bush left his old team at Roush Racing, when he had an oppertunity to drive the famous #2 Miller Light car, after its former driver Rusty Wallace retired.
The move was controversial on many parts.
Kurt still had 2 years left on his contract with Roush.
Kurts team mate Mark Martin was also scheduled to retire.
Roush Racing had allready picked another driver for Marks car, Jamie McMurray, who also was under contract to another team through the end of this year.
Jamie fought to get out of his contract from Ganassie racing early.
One more thing...Kurt Bush was the reighning Nascar champion.
This was all during the middle of last years season.
With two races left in last years season, Kurt and Jamie had both been released from their contracts, and Mark had decided to stick around one more year.
Kurt decides he is going to party early, and is pulled over in Pheonix, Ar. for wreckless driving.
He takes the breathalizer test and is not legaly drunk, but decides he is going to be Mr. Bigshot, and starts calling the arresting officer names, and says he is getting a ticket for wreckless driving because the cop is a "Jeff Gordon fan".
Because of his actions, Jack Roush, the owner of Roush Racing susspends Kurt for the last two races of the season (this is all sounding like a soap opera by now isn't it)?
Fast forward to this year.
Kurt Bush is now driving for Miller Light ( irony in motorsports, what a concept).
Mark Martin is in his old car with a new sponsor (Viagra to AAA).
Jamie McMurray is in Kurts' old car (Crown Royal, more irony).
In the closing laps of yesterdays race, Kurt Bush and Jamie McMurray are racing for a position near the lead, when Jamie bumps Kurt into the wall. Bush was unable to finish the race, but Jamie only made it a few more laps before he to was pushed into the wall. Jamie did finish, but with a badly dented car, he was only able to finish 36 out of 43.
I know it took a while to get to my point, but hey, we still got there and you are still reading aren't you?
Anyway, its on to California this weekend, and I am sure it will be as exciting as yesterday.

Now that Football is over, it's time to switch gears. GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES.
Thats right, Nascar season is underway with the Bud Shoot Out Saturday night.
This race sets the front row for the Daytona 500, with the rest of the field being set next week Thursday.
I am a big fan of Nascar, and have been for many years.
Having attended 2 Nascar races at MIS I can tell you if you are a fan of the races and get the chance to go to any Nascar race, it is a very cool treat.
Not all of the excitement on the track. You have Merchandise row where each of the drivers has their own trailer full of everything from matchbox cars to toilet seats. These trailers(43) are parked side by side, with about an inch of space between them, and are where most of the people out of their seats will be found.
Many of the car sponsors have extra little booths and areas set up, so that fans can get everything from an Office Depot mouse pad, to a blood pressure/cholesterol check from Pfizzer(Viagra).
You also have the major network of media types from ESPN, FOX, MRN, and everybody else.
There are concerts on a sponsors stage, local vendors, and of course all of the food vendors.
Of course there are also the fans. Tailgate parties, flip flops, beer-can-hats, clothed and topless (when they can get away with it).
I know, most of you are saying "I can see these people at a Wal Mart store for free", but you don't get the full effect.
On my first trip to MIS, our seats were right across from the first pit stall. It was very exciting to see these guys jump over the wall and service their drivers car in under 14 seconds.
Well folks, I must get going here, but for those of you who enjoy the thrill of the race, the season begins now with SpeedWeeks in Daytona, and we will see you at the finish line in November.

Well here it is, SuperBowl Sunday.
I know the experts and most everybody else says Pittsburgh will win, but I like Seatle.
I also think the big winners will be the add companies. Lets face it, SuperBowl Sunday is as much about television advertisement as it is about football now-a-days.
Who can remember who won the SuperBowl the last 3 years? Who cares?
But I will bet we all remember the adds. The Budweiser Clydesdales, the Bud Frogs, Lenny and Louie the Lizards, they are all part of our Trivial Pursuit memory banks now.
Last night we had the 40 greatest SuperBowl comercials of all time on CBS and those who watched were treated to advertisement genious for an hour.
I know the Mean Joe Green Coke comercial of 1980 won the #1 spot, but how many people remember this comercial from even before 1980?
I even remember a parody of the comercial where Joe, instead of saying "thanks " lets out one long loud Belch.
Myself, I liked the story of the 2 dalmation puppies. One gets picked by the fire department as their mascot, and gives his brother a rasberry. Years later we see these same two dalmations passing each other in two different open air vehicles. The one on the Firetruck is upset as he sees his brother,with tounge sticking out, on the Budweiser Clydesdale Beer Wagon.
No matter who wins the football game, we all gather round with our co-workers for the next few days to not just talk football, but advertisements as well.
Well my friends, I hope your football pool numbers come up big, I have 4 sets myself, and I hope you all enjoy the game, but I also hope you enjoy the adds as well.

I have a pink shirt with the pink ribbon next to the logo on the pocket. These shirts were made by the Wrangler company, and were featured at the National Finals Rodeo last month, where the riders were wearing them.
The add campaighn for these shirts is called "Tough Enough To Wear Pink" and they have a different shirt for this year.
Some of the procedes from these shirts goes to breast cancer research, and I hope we can find a cure to this disease if not in my lifetime, our childrens.
Hopefully it won't be long when we will not have to be "Tough Enough To Wear Pink".

Yesterday, a friend of mine from work had a pack of JUMBO Smarties, and it got me thinking.
I remembered back when I was 6, how a packet of Smarties was the ultimate power pellet for
Batman, Robin, Superman, Spiderman and a host of other superheros. No bad guy stood a chance as long as we had Smarties, and if it was haloween, the bad guys might as well take a vacation as there was an unlimited supply of power pellets.
This was at a time when you didn't have to wory about somebody tampering with candy.
Ours was allways the most popular house in the neighborhood because my mother would make popcorn balls and fudge to hand out. Parents would send their kids back out to our house just for the real goodies.
The 1960's were a very cool time to be a little kid.
There were only 3 channels on television, and if the President was on, television was shot that night so you went to your friends house or they came to yours, for hide and seek or kick the can.
I remember my older brother teaching me to ride a two wheeler and suddenly the world got bigger. Now I could ride around the block.
School was a block and a half away, so we were allways able to get to the swings, monkey bars and merry-go-round within a few minuites.
In the winter, the first thing we did when we got up was to look out the bedroom window to see how much snow we had.
There were snowmen, snowball fights, and sledding to be done. If the weather was to bad, we got out the crayons(we had the big box), and coloring books or scrap paper.
We also had tinker toys and lincoln logs to build forts, pyramids, and any number of things we could imagine.
Captain Kangaroo was everybodys friend, and Flipper and Lassie allways saved the day unless the president was on.
We have come a long way since then, but it is allways cool to remember we were part of that time.
May the supply of power pellets never run out

The NEW BED IS HERE!!! THE NEW BED IS HERE!!!
Wed. we had another eventfull day.
When we had gotten Dallas out of the"Big House" we noticed he had
a very bad cough and threw up 4 times.
We called animal control on Tue., and they told us it sounded like he had
Kennel Cough. Prety much like bronchitis for humans.
They told us he needed antibiotics, so we called the vet, and set up an apointment for Wed. morning.
We were told that this is contagious to other dogs so on Wed. both Dallas and Cosmo
got to go see the vet.
$150 dollars later, we set out for home.
We had just gotten home, and I was getting the boys out of the car, when I
looked down the street to see a large delivery truck coming towords me.
It had SELECT COMFORT written on it, so the boys went from the car, into the house, and outside to the back yard.
Needless to say, this bed is very cool and comfortable.
It is now Fri. morning, and Dallas is doing much better, Cosmo is happy to have Dallas home,he had moped around all last weekend, and the bed is wonderfull.

We have had a prety eventfull weekend.
Friday night started with our 4 year old black lab breaking his cable outside, and running away.
We searched for him for about an hour before the neighborhood patrolman stopped us and told us he had picked up Dallas and he was at animal control.
I had talked with the animal control officer just about 15 or 20 min. before that, and the patrolman said he had picked up Dallas at about that time.
We went to animal control, where we were told he would have to stay for the weekend, because the offices were locked up for the night, and he could not get to the computers, to process the paperwork.
Saturday was spent moving our waterbed from our room to the spare bedroom, so that we could prepare our room for our SELECT COMFORT bed which will be delivered Wed.
We had previously pulled the carpet up in the spare room, so yesterday we pulled the carpet out of our room.
We are now down to bare wood floors except for stairs and hallway. The floors don't look to bad, but we want to put new wood floors down to match the kitchen. I will be getting the rest of the carpet up this weekend.
It is now time to get a shower, and get ready to go bail our son out of Doggie Solitary, so I will be posting more later this week.

This is Grandma Weezie.
My wife Mary got me this for Christmas.
My mother lost her battle with breast cancer 10
years ago last month and she was the real
Grandma Weezie.
When my neice was younger, The Jeffersons was
a popular T.V. show, and the leading ladys' name was
Louise. Her Husband called her Weezie.
My moms' middle name was Louise, and my neice
picked up on that and started calling her Grandma Weezie.
Even though you can't read the writing on the birth certificate, the birthday is the same as moms'.
She will be going with me on walks for breast cancer awareness along with the Beanie Baby Bear that I have named Yvonne.

I must have had to much info when I answered my random question, so here it is...
Q: If you were a professional wrestler, what would be your finishing move?
A: I had to laugh at this question, because it took me back to the days when my younger brother and I would cheer for the bad guys just to piss our mom off.
We had taken her a few times to the matches, and had the most fun yelling
"Get Him In The Pretzel Lock".
This would have to be my signature move once I figure out what it is.
I also remember being in the 4th row from the ring, on the aisle where the wrestlers walk in, and Andre The Giant walked past.
This guy was HUGE at over 7' 4" and 500 lbs.

Just had to share a story I heard this morning.
This is an actual event that did actualy happen, I heard it from one of the maintainance guys at work.
Aparently some guy here in Michigan, we are not all this stupid, got his car stuck in the mud.
Being that he was alone, he had a stroke of genius, or just a stroke, to put his toolbox on the accelerator, and he would push the car.
Aparently the car was doing about 100 mph, before going airborne and crash landing in a bean field.
I would have loved to be there to see this, as I can allways use a good laugh, but what would have been better would be to have been there with a video camera...it would have been a guarenteed $100,000.
I heard another story this morning that took place at an area bowling alley last night.
A guy had bowled a 300 game and had settled into his chair to unwind. 20 minuites later he had a heart attack, and passed away.
There were a few nurses there, but they were not able to revive him.

I am finaly going to start doing something with this.
Hopefully, you will not be bored to the point of throwing your computers, or get a notion to come over here and throw mine, out the window, but what else are we going to do with this space?
I have but one major ground rule here and that is...Don't Look For Wisdom and knowledge On This Page. You will only be severely dissapointed and left with an empty feeling for the rest of your natural life, because as anybody who knows me can tell you...there is no wisdom and knowledge up in the attic.
